
Nestled on the northern edge of the Rub’ al Khali (Empty Quarter)—the world’s largest continuous sand desert—Liwa Oasis stretches approximately 100 km east to west, encompassing around 50 villages. Historically, it served as the birthplace of the ruling Al Nahyan family and was a hub for date farming and pearl diving.
A verdant haven amidst the desert, Liwa Oasis boasts extensive date palm plantations nourished by underground aquifers. It’s an ideal spot for picnics, photography, and experiencing the contrast between fertile greenery and surrounding dunes.
Standing at approximately 300 meters with a 50-degree incline, Moreeb Dune is among the tallest sand dunes globally. It’s a hotspot for dune bashing, sandboarding, and hosts the annual Liwa Moreeb Dune Festival, featuring motorsports and cultural events.
Encounter the unique “Liwa camels,” known for their distinctive dark coloration. Visitors can observe these animals, learn about Bedouin traditions, and even sample fresh camel milk.
